About our Club:

CHB Winemakers is a small group of beer, wine and liqueur enthusiasts striving to make our best brew yet. The club has been going strong for 35 years and has many knowledgeable and experienced home brewers.

About club night:

Each month we meet to share a laugh and hold a judging session to review each others brews, the judging is held competition style with awards up for grabs at our AGM. After the judging is complete, we sit back and relax with cheese and biscuits and continue to taste the drinks from the judging.

What you will gain:

Being a member of the CHB Winemakers and Brewers club is a great way to learn about home brewing and pick up tips and tricks from your peers as well as share you own. There is a wealth of knowledge between the club and all that is shared in our beer and wine judging which helps to improve your own brewing and techniques.

What our members brew:

Our members brew many styles of beer and varieties of wine and some enter the liqueur competitions. We brew from grain or kits, pick our own grapes, collect berries, the list goes on.  There is a a lot of fun to be had.

Competitions:

On top of our monthly competition, we also attend regional and national competitions which are held bi-annually on alternating years. Our club has been very successful in picking up awards over the years and continues to do so, we support all of our members to take part in the competitions and bring home the awards. Below is some of our club members with a handful of awards, as well as Peter (middle, front) , who was a Life Member of the Club.

Events:

Summer BBQ: Generally the CHB club and Hawke’s Bay club will join together for a BBQ in the summer which is usually held in Napier or Hastings. A fun beer and wine competition is held with top prize being the Delorus trophy.

Winter Pot Luck:  The CHB club hosts the Hawke’s Bay club at the Masonic hall for a winters pot luck meal. Like the summer BBQ, another beer and wine competition is held with a chance for Delorus to find a new home.
